How to program Tiltamatic and Merlin garage door dip switch remotes

Below you will learn how to program your new garage door remotes directly into your door. However some older garage door dip switch remotes use a different (easier) method for coding. Replacement garage door dip switch remotes for the old style Merlin garage door remotes and Tiltamatic garage door remotes use a dip switch configuration to match the remote with the door. Matching these dipswitch configurations is easy and below we will teach you how to program your garage door dip switch remotes.

Tiltamatic and Merlin garage door dip switch remotes instructions

  1. Remove the front cover from your existing garage door dip switch remote.
  2. Remove the cover from your newly purchased garage door dip switch remote.
  3. Simply copy the 12 or 8 pin combination from your old remote onto your new garage door dip switch remote.
  4. Replace both garage door remote covers.
  5. Begin using your new garage door remote.

Please note if you have lost your existing garage door dip switch remote you can copy the configuration directly from the garage motor onto your new remote.

This sequence will be under a clip off cover on the side or rear of the garage door motor depending on your model.
