We know this can be a tricky one so here is our guide to finding the right garage remote to suit your Garage Door Opener or Gate. Brand:
The easiest way to search & find your replacement Remote is if you know the brand of your current Remote or Garage Door Opener. Some Remotes will have their brand emblazoned on the front which keeps your search easy but if not have a look on the back of it as it will sometimes be printed there too. Otherwise have a look at your Garage Door Opener – usually the back or one of the side panels of your Garage Door Opener will have the Brand printed on it. To help we've added an example of how to Search By Brand on our website:
A) Here is our example Remote we are going to search for on the website. We have identified the Brand is ATA (Automatic Technology Australia) found on the front & back of the Remote in this case:
B) We go to The Remote Warehouse main page & hover the curser over the 'Garage/Gate Remotes' drop down menu & then move the curser down to 'Shop By Brand' which will open the Fly out menu of Brands listed in Alphabetical order. We scroll down the list of brands to find the 'ATA' section & click on it to go to the ATA Collection of remotes.
C) Now we can look through the ATA remotes & search for a remote that looks similar to our existing one. We find the ATA remote we think is a match & click on it:
D) Which takes us to its product listing below:
E) We see there are further photos in the product listing & click on one of them to enlarge it so we can compare our remote in hand to the one in the product listing.
F) If we go back to the ATA Collection page & scroll down, next to the Genuine ATA remote we find an Aftermarket compatible remote.
H) We click on it to go to the product listing for more information:
I) & we find in the description & in the compatibility photo that this Aftermarket remote is compatible with our Genuine PTX-4 Blue Remote.
J) So we now have two options to replace our Remote - a Genuine ATA PTX-4 Blue Remote or an Aftermarket Compatible PTX-4 Remote.
2. Model:
Our website also enables you to search by Model number. Some Remotes will have their model number (usually on the back, but it can also occasionally be on the front of the Remote). If you can't find anything that looks like a model number on your Remote, have a look on the back panel of your Garage Door Motor. Once you have a Model number you can enter that into our Search Bar at the top of the page & hit 'Enter' on your keyboard & our website will display all Remotes matching your Model number. To help we've added an example of how to Search By Model on our website:
Garage Motor Model search -
A) Here is our example Garage Door Motor we are going to search for on the website. We have identified the Model number is GDO-V11 found on the back panel of the motor:
B) We head to the Remote Warehouse website & enter in the Model number to the Search Bar at the top of the page & hit 'Enter' to search for that model.
C) Here are our results for all Garage Door Remotes that mention that particular Motor Model. We find the remote we think is a match & click on it:
D) Which takes us to its product listing below. We read through the compatible Garage Door Motor models & see our model - GDO-11V1 is listed there: 
E) We also see there are further photos in the product listing & click on one of them to enlarge it so we can compare our remote in hand to the one in the product listing too. 
F) We also find a photo within the product listing that shows us all the remote variations that are compatible with this remote. 
G) If we click back to our GDO-11V1 search we find next to the Genuine ATA remote we have just looked at, an Aftermarket compatible remote option. 
H) We click on it to go to its product listing for more information. We also find our Garage Door Motor model listed here as being compatible with this Aftermarket Remote:
I) & we find a compatibility photo that shows us our remote is also compatible with this Aftermarket Remote:
J) So we now have two options to replace our Remote - a Genuine ATA PTX-5V1 Remote or an Aftermarket Compatible PTX-5V1 Remote.
Remote Model search -
A) If we know what model our Garage Door Remote is we can enter that into the Search bar at the top of the page. In the example below my Remote model number is PTX-5V1:
B) So I enter that Model number into the search bar:
C) Here are our results for all Garage Door Remotes that mention that particular Remote Model. We find that the same two remote options that came up for our Garage Motor Model search have come up for our Remote Model search: 
3. Appearance:
If you know what your Remote looks like but are not sure of the brand & can't find a model number on the Remote have a look through the All Garage Door Remotes or All Gate Remotes sections under our main 'Garage/Gate Remotes menu. These areas list every Remote we stock for either Gates or Garage doors. When you find something that looks similar to your remote click the thumbnail into the product page to check.
